Dr. Lee earned his MSW and Ph.D. in social welfare from the University of California at Berkeley. His research and practice interests include the psychological development and adjustment of Asian Americans, and ethnic groups in the child welfare and mental health systems. Dr. Lee has also been involved in service and partnerships among the School, College of Health and Human Sciences, and SJSU. In addition to his current role as Director of the School, he is the Chair of SJSU's University Council of Chairs and Directors (UCCD), and a Provost Fellow/Director of the Academic Affairs Leadership Discovery Group (AALDG). He is also on the committee of the California Social Work Hall of Distinction and the co-creator of Social Workers in the Library in San Jose (with SJPL Librarian Deborah Estreicher). Dr. Lee is also involved with The Salvation Army and other non-profit community organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area developing sports, family, and youth programs. In the past he had been active with a team of SJSU colleagues and the Viet Nam National University in Ha Noi to create graduate-level curriculum instrumental towards developing the social work profession in Viet Nam, and was the Associate Director of CommUniverCity SJSU. Peter is guided by a servant leadership philosophy. He enjoys playing sports, taking naps, and watching movies, although not at the same time.
